Port de Soller, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain
We spent five relaxing nights in Port de Sóller, a gorgeous little coastal town on the island of Mallorca, Spain. It’s the kind of place where you can truly slow down - perfect for strolling the promenade, enjoying fresh seafood, and soaking up the scenery. In this blog post, we’re sharing the highlights from our stay and all the gorgeous pictures, including a scenic boat trip, a visit to the nearby village of Sóller, our favorite beaches, and two restaurants we loved. If you're dreaming of a laid-back Mediterranean escape, Port de Sóller might be just the spot.
About Port de Sóller
Port de Sóller is a charming seaside town on the northwest coast of Mallorca, tucked into a horseshoe-shaped bay surrounded by the dramatic Tramuntana mountains. It was originally a quiet fishing village, but its sheltered port made it a key trading point for citrus and olives grown in the Sóller Valley. These days, it’s a peaceful holiday spot with a lovely mix of waterfront cafés, small boutiques, and bobbing boats in the marina. It's the perfect base for exploring this less-touristy side of the island - and we stayed five relaxing nights here at the Marina Hotel, right on the beachfront.
The Village of Sóller
Sóller is a picturesque town just a short tram ride inland from the port. It’s known for its beautiful architecture, especially around the main square - look out for the striking church of Sant Bartomeu and the old bank building designed by a student of Gaudí. Historically, the town flourished thanks to its orange and lemon groves, and there’s still a strong agricultural feel. Wandering the quiet backstreets, you’ll find stone houses, shady cafés, and a slower pace of life. The vintage wooden tram that runs between Sóller and the port is a highlight and a fun way to get between the two.
Beaches and Promenade
Port de Sóller has a relaxed beachfront vibe, with two main beaches on either side of the bay - both with soft sand, calm water, and ideal for swimming. The water is clear and generally safe, making it a good option for a leisurely dip. The pedestrian-friendly promenade that runs along the waterfront is lined with palm trees, shops, ice cream spots, and plenty of cafés where you can sit with a drink and watch the boats. In the evening, the bay lights up with a golden glow, and it’s a beautiful place for a sunset stroll.
Our Boat Day Trip
One of the highlights of our stay was a full-day boat trip along the rugged northern coastline. We cruised past cliffs and hidden coves, stopping for swims in crystal-clear water. We visited the dramatic Cueva de Cabella, a sea cave that we went into on our boat. We stopped off at Sa Calobra, a stunning little beach tucked between towering cliffs. With three swim stops along the way and gorgeous coastal views the entire time, it was a day of pure relaxation and natural beauty. Highly recommended if you want to see this coastline from a different angle.
Eating Out: Patiki Beach Bar & Kingfisher Restaurant
We had two standout meals during our stay. Patiki Beach Bar is a laid-back beach bar with a cool vibe and a focus on seasonal, organic food. The dishes are fresh and flavorful, perfect for a long lunch with your feet in the sand. We loved the burrata salad and the white chocolate and beetroot dessert. Kingfisher Restaurant perched on the edge of the marina, is a bit more upscale, specializing in seafood. The view over the water is just as good as the food - definitely try the scallops or any of the fresh catch of the day.
Sunsets and Views
Every night all along the promenade the views of the water and the sun setting was incredible. We were lucky enough to have a roof top terrace to enjoy a glass of wine while watching the colours change from gorgeous pink hues to midnight blue night skies.
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable five days in the past of Mallorca. We found the beaches stunning, the food, mostly, great and would highly recommend staying here if you want a little bit more relaxed vibe on the island of Mallorca. Hire a couple of beach chairs and enjoy the views from under a shady umbrella.
