Carmona, Spain Walking Tour
If you’re visiting Seville, the beautiful hilltop town of Carmona is an easy day trip and well worth the short drive.
We hadn’t heard much about Carmona before visiting, but it turned out to be one of those places that quietly surprises you. Ancient city walls, narrow lanes, historic churches and incredible views over the surrounding countryside.
This self-guided walking tour on the VoiceMap app is a great way to explore it.
You simply follow the route on your phone while the commentary plays automatically as you reach each stop. It’s relaxed, easy to follow, and you can wander at your own pace.
What we liked about using VoiceMap
• No need to book a guided tour time
• GPS triggers the stories automatically as you walk
• You can download the tour and use it offline
• Tours are created by local guides who know the town’s history
• A very affordable way to explore somewhere new
It’s one of the easiest ways we’ve found to learn about a place while still exploring independently.
What you’ll see on this tour
This 3 km walking tour takes about 90 minutes and explores the historic centre of Carmona, which has been occupied for more than 5,000 years.
Highlights along the way include:
• Alcázar de la Puerta de Sevilla
• Plaza de San Fernando
• Church of Santa María
• Puerta de Córdoba
• Narrow streets that still follow the layout of the ancient Roman town
Along the way you’ll hear stories about the many cultures that shaped Carmona, from the Romans to Muslim rulers and later Christian kings.
Our tip
Carmona makes a fantastic day trip from Seville. Do the walking tour first, then spend some time wandering the town and enjoying the views across the Guadalquivir valley.
